We conducted our third “Peaceful Investing” workshop in Bengaluru on February 25, 2018. The workshop was aimed at sharing equity investing knowledge with the participants that could help them gain confidence while taking their equity investment decisions.
The presence of participants coming from places like Mumbai, Chennai, Pondicherry, Mysore, Tirupathi, Devangere, Yadgir coming to Bengaluru made it a special occasion for us.
The presence of outstation participants from distant cities shows that confidence that investors have placed in us. It was a similar case when we had the privilege of participants coming from:
- West Bengal, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to Hyderabad in December 2017
- Kanpur, Faridabad, Coimbatore, Udaipur, Nagpur, Nashik and Pune to Mumbai in November 2017.
- Muscat, Abu Dhabi and various parts of UAE to Dubai in October 2017.
- Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pune, Hyderabad, Kochi, parts of Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh to Chennai in September 2017.
- Sydney, Mumbai, Jaipur and Lucknow apart from nearby different places to attend the workshop in Delhi in August 2017
- Ernakulam (Kerala), Vijaywada, Bhopal, Pune and different areas of Gujarat to attend the workshop in Ahmedabad in June 2017
- Muscat (Oman), Bangalore, Indore, Kolhapur, Mumbai and different areas of Maharashtra to attend the workshop in Pune in February 2017
We are truly honoured to have such faith from investors and it gave us immense pleasure to know that the participants found the workshop valuable and added to their stock analysis skills.
The workshop focussed on concepts of stock investing including different aspect of analysis like financial analysis, business & industry analysis, valuation analysis and management analysis along with price to pay for any stock. The workshop also focused on different data sources available to the retail investors for doing stock analysis and an in-depth understanding using Screener, which is one of the best data source available for Indian stocks
The workshop included a session on answering different queries faced by the participants while doing investments and stock analysis.
A lot of participants shared their feedback about the workshop and their learning from it. Below are the feedback of some of the participants:
Hi Dr Vijay Malik,
Thanks a lot for the wonderful workshop “Peaceful Investing” in Bengaluru on 25-02-2017. Your in-depth knowledge in stock selection changed my perception. I read the E-book and learnt many parameters and filters as stock selection criteria. I understood my ignorance and will give more importance to annual reports, quarterly reports and credit rating reports.
This workshop taught me to use the excel sheet in an efficient way and the important usage of google alerts.
One example is the explanation of why you ignore ROE in stock screening. Till now, I was under the impression that ROE and ROCE are the most important parameters in stock screening. Understanding what is ROE is not only enough and we need to dig more and understand in-depth how ROE is derived and is used for stock screening.
I was much impressed on all the topics (financial analysis, management analysis, valuation analysis and cash flow analysis). Since I am from non-finance background and I could not understand fund flow analysis even though you have explained very well. The explanation of P/E ratio and its major use in valuation analysis is too good. Till now, I thought that we need to use too many parameters for valuation in screening a good stock.
In most of workshops, organizers will be keen on selling their premium services and they will give more importance and sell their products by giving attractive discounts. But, I really admired that you never talked about your premium services even though we had asked about it.
Your E-book content is much more valuable and I have no words to praise the contents.
Note for new participants: please spend some time and read the E-book and hands on experience on the Screener before attending the work shop. This will help to gain more knowledge.
In short “More you understand the annual reports; more confident you will be in identifying good stocks”. Thanks and Regards,
– Palanivel Poomalai
Hello Dr. Vijay,
It was excellent session yesterday. The content was well organized and it explained every concept in financial & management analysis. I especially liked the second session where you explained some of the case studies of Chor Promoters and how they can cheat minority shareholders. Overall, it was great and I will recommend this to any novice investor who chooses fundamental analysis as a theme to invest.
Peaceful Investing – Invest and sleep peacefully : This is a brilliant tag and this is exactly important for successful long investment journey to achieve financial freedom. Thank you for arranging this session, continue sharing investment wisdom and wish you great success in your investment journey. Best Regards,

It was nice meeting you.
I was very impressed by your objective of taking Stock Investing to layman like us. In this capitalistic world, its hard to find one who selflessly answers each queries religiously and elaborately and covering all the aspects. Keep doing the good work. Hope to catch you sooner or later.
